 2016 Preview

Lee-Scott Academy completed the 2015 season with a 9-2 record. With their 3-1 region record and a second place finish in Class AAA region two, the Warriors earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Last year Lee-Scott Academy reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Monroe Academy team by the score of 34-7.

The Warriors hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Maddox saw improvement as they won nine games following a 4-5 record in 2014.

Since 2010, Lee-Scott Academy has gone a combined 41-24. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class AAA over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Lee-Scott Academy has managed to compile a record of 140-126. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AAA and 18th in the AISA.

The Warriors are led by head coach Robert Maddox who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 62-45 over the past ten seasons at Lee-Scott Academy. Under his direction the Warriors have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Maddox.

Coach Maddox's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-one season stands at 135-101 (57.2%). His 135 wins rank 6th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Maddox's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of sixteen times and won five region championships.

The Lee-Scott Academy Warriors will play in Class AAA region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Warriors remain in AAA but move from region two over to region one. Lee-Scott Academy will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

Region one will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season.

The Warriors enter the 2016 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak. The Warriors should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

The Warriors open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Monroe Academy on Friday, August 26 at Judd Scott Field. Last year the Monroe Academy Volunteer finished with an overall record of 13-1 and in first place in Class AAA region one. The Volunteer lost in the Class AAA State Championship game last season when they were defeated by Bessemer Academy. They final score was 34-6 in Troy.

Lee-Scott Academy and Monroe Academy have met a total of 14 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 4-10-0 record against the Volunteer. They last met in 2015 with Monroe Academy winning by a score of 34-7.
